Low carb diets tend to be somewhat controversial with many supporters as well as detractors. An argument can be made that once someone completes the diet and goes back to higher carb consumption, weight will be gained back rapidly. Yet, gaining weight back could potentially be countered by replacing the diet with another more typical long term lower calorie approach after goals have been met.
